7 Day Costa Blanca Itinerary (Local’s Guide for the Perfect Trip)

Planning a trip to the Costa Blanca but not sure how to fit everything in?

I’ve been coming to Spain since I was a child, and after moving to the Costa Blanca with my family in 2019 (and visiting for years before that), we’ve spent a lot of time exploring so much of this coastline – finding the best beaches, the prettiest towns, and the places that are actually worth your time.

We decided to pull all of our favourite places into a guide, so you can plan your dream trip to the Costa Blanca and see as much as possible.

This 7-day Costa Blanca itinerary is designed to give you the perfect mix of:

  • Beaches
  • Pretty coastal towns
  • Scenic viewpoints
  • …and a few places you might not find on a typical tourist list

Whether you’re visiting from the UK, planning a road trip, or just want a stress-free plan to follow… this will help you make the most of your time here.

Alicante Esplanada

The Route Overview

This itinerary follows a really simple, easy-to-drive route along the coast:

Alicante → Altea → Calpe → Jávea → Dénia → Guadalest & Algar Waterfalls → Villajoyosa

We’ve tried to make sure you have short drives, no backtracking, and a mix of coast and inland locations.

All of these stops are places that we’ve visited and enjoyed, so you can be sure that each day you’ll be going somewhere worth visiting!

7 Day Costa Blanca Itinerary (Overview)

Day 1 – Alicante

  • Arrive via Alicante Airport
  • Explore the old town
  • Walk along the promenade
  • Sunset by the beach

In the full itinerary, I’ve included exactly what to see, where to eat, and the best viewpoints.

Day 2 – Altea

  • Whitewashed old town
  • Blue-domed church
  • Seafront dinner

You’ll get exact photo spots, parking tips, and our favourite hidden corners of the old town.

Day 3 – Calpe

  • Visit the famous Peñón de Ifach
  • Beach time or coastal walk
  • Fresh seafood by the marina

Includes the best beach options, where to see flamingos, and the easiest way to explore the area.

Day 4 – Jávea

  • Hidden coves & turquoise water
  • Viewpoints like Cabo de la Nao
  • Beach clubs or relaxed dinner

We’ve mapped out the best coves, viewpoints, and where to go for a relaxed beach day vs something more scenic.

Day 5 – Dénia

  • Castle views
  • Marina walk
  • One of the best places for food on the Costa Blanca

Includes food recommendations and the best areas to explore.

Day 6 – Guadalest & Algar Waterfalls

  • Mountain village views
  • Castle & reservoir
  • Swim in natural waterfalls

This is a standout day – very different from the coast! You’ll get a step-by-step plan so you can do both locations in one day without rushing.

Day 7 – Villajoyosa

  • Colourful houses
  • Beach & relaxed morning
  • Stop before heading back to Alicante

Includes the best spots for photos, chocolate stops, and a relaxed final day plan.

Do You Need a Car?

Short answer: yes.

Some places are doable by public transport, but to really explore properly and avoid too much travel time eating into your holiday, a car will make everything so much easier and less stressful.

Without a car you’ll struggle to access the more hidden beaches and viewpoints, and will need to spend money on taxis to get inbetween different parts of the towns.

If you need to hire a car, you can find the best deal on DiscoverCars

Best Time to Visit The Costa Blanca

Based on almost 7 years living here, here’s our honest recommendations of when the best times to visit the Costa Blanca would be:

  • Spring (March–May): Perfect time to visit as it’s warm, and everywhere is fairly quiet still.
  • Summer: If you can only visit in the summer, be warned that it will be very hot and very busy (especially in August). You’ll want to plan for queues, crowds, things taking longer, and make sure you buy any tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
  • Autumn (Sept–Oct): Honestly one of the best times to visit! The weather is still hot but not stifling, and there are less crowds.
  • Winter: A good time to visit as it’s still sunny (though cold in the mornings and evenings), much quieter, but you may find that some places are closed for winter.
